1. Conveyor comprising an endless flexible member (10) provided with means for driving it at a constant speed (12) and circulating on return wheels (14, 16) carried by a slide (18) and on stationary guiding wheels (12, 20), characterized in that the stationary guiding wheels (12, 20) define a loop in front of a working station (21) which is separated by the slide from that part of the flexible member which is provided with the driving means and in that the slide (18) is provided with means for imparting it with an alternating movement along a direction and at a speed such that it temporarily maintains a section of the flexible member which is located between the return means at rest, the means (22, 32) which drive the slide being constructed for imparting to said slide a speed which is temporarily half the circulation speed of the flexible member.
