PURPOSE:To make the operation of an electron microscope simpler, and to prevent troubles such as an error operation, by detecting the sorts of the recording media of the sensitive material, the sensitivity, the size, the number of use, and the like automatically. CONSTITUTION:At a cassette 11 to hold an image plate or a photo film 12, cutting markers 14 or 15 responding to the sort of the sensitive material are furnished, and the cutting markers 14 or 15 are read by tongue pieces 17 of a microswitch 16. By setting that the cutting markers 14 are made when the image plate is used, while the cutting markers 15 are made when the photo film is used, for example, the sort of the sensitive material can be detected by a judge device 18 depending on the markers detected by the tongue pieces 17. Not only the sort of the sensitive material, but also the sensitivity, the size, and the like of the film, or, the sensitivity, the size, the number of use, and the like of the image plate can be set separately or in a set, and can be made to detect. In such a way, the operation is made simpler, and the generation of troubles such as an error operation can be prevented.
