PURPOSE:To eliminate the need for placing a body like and arrow on a plate to be displayed and for indicating on the display screen with an indication stick by converging light transmitted through a symbol plate where light is transmitted through only the part in the shape of a symbol and forming an image of the symbol of the symbol plate on the plate to be displayed through a half-mirror. CONSTITUTION:Light emitted by a light source 8 for symbol display is transmitted through the symbol plate 9 formed so that the light may be transmitted through only the part in the shape of the arrow symbol. and then guided to a symbol image formation optical system 10. The symbol image formation optical system 10 converges the light passed through the symbol plate 9 to form the image C of the arrow symbol of the symbol plate 9 at the position of the plate 5 to be displayed through an irradiation optical system 3 and a mount 4. When the position of the plate 5 where the image C is formed is in a light transmission state, the light forming the image C passes through the plate 5 and is converged again by a projection optical system 6 to form an image C' of the screen 7. Further, a moving mechanism 11 shifts the image C at the position of the plate 5 and the image C' on the screen 7 in position. Consequently, the arrow body need not be rearranged every time the display plate is replaced, and a position shift is only made.
