A quick-acting fastener for connecting two ends of restraining belts on stretchers, carrying chairs or the like is to be provided, in which the two ends of the quick-acting fastener brought into the closed position do not spring open in the case of a sudden increase in tension due to the fact that the retaining pin passing through the two parts is set at an angle and flung out due to forces acting at different points on the pin. This is achieved due to the fact that the front part, lying at a higher level, of the lower part bounding the insertion slot on one side has at the free end a central, groove-shaped upwardly bent part and, on both sides thereof, two groove-shaped downwardly bent parts, and the connector has a central upward curvature at the free end of its front part, the points of action of the force of the lower part and of the connector, which transmit the retaining forces onto the retaining pin, lying in one plane.
