PURPOSE:To eliminate difficulties accompanying the use of conventional binder and to improve the strength of formed body by press-forming powder mixture obtd., by adding to powdery raw materials for glass other glass powder having lower softening point than above described glass raw material powder, as binder, and heat-treating the press-formed body. CONSTITUTION:A glass ceramic article is obtd. by the process described hereunder. At least one kind of glass powder or their mixture is (are) used as the raw material, and other glass powder having lower softening point than said glass powder (or mixture) is added as binder to prepare a powder mixture, which is press-formed at a temp. within a range above the softening point of said binder powder and below the softening point of said raw material. By heat-treating then the press-formed body, the formed body is made denser by softening and fusing each glass particle to each other, and allowing on one hand crystals to be deposited.
