The lathe tool reversible cutter plate fits in a recess in the holder shank against bottom and side support faces. It is upright in the working position and is held by a clamp. The clamp has a clamping member near the side face in the recess (3), extending through a bore (11) in the cutter plate (10), which can be turned about the bore axis. The cutter plate has a stop face at each end, extending for part of its height and symmetrical w.r.t. the bore axis, one of the faces pressing against an axial stop face (7) in the holder recess.
