The child restraint includes a seat (12) and a back support (11). The underside of the seat includes a heel (13) at the rear support side of the seat undersurface, a toe (15) at the free end of the undersurface, and a concave curved slope (14) joining the heel and toe. The heel is positioned on the undersurface so that, when used in a rearward facing direction it is positioned immediately in front of the anterior edge of the vehicle seat. The concave slope and toe simultaneously rest on the seat.
