<p>1-(beta-D-Ribofuranosyl) 1,2,4-triazole 3- carboxamide for use as an anti-viral agent is made by (a) reacting suitable molar amounts of 3-cyano 1-(2,3,5-tri-O-acetyl beta-D- ribofuranosyl) 1,2,4-triazole with 28% aq. ammonia and 30% H2O2 at 25 deg.C for 12 hours; (b) treating the soln. with Pt black to remove excess H2O2; (c) filtering; (d) evaporating in a rotary evaporator at 35 deg.C under reduced pressure; (e) dissolving the residue in methanol; (f) adding silica gel; (g) removing excess solvent; (h) applying the silica gel mixt.; and (i) eluting with ethyl acetate/methanol mixt..</p> |
