The proposal is for an electromagnetically actuated valve in which the valve closing member is designed as a cylindrical sleeve which is coaxial with the valve passage opening and is held and guided in a leaktight manner in the passage opening and can be displaced relative to the valve-chamber partition wall containing the passage opening. At its front end, the sleeve has a valve seat by which, in the closed condition, it rests leaktightly on a flat seating surface, extending transversely to the axis of the sleeve, in a chamber. At the end on the other side of the sealing zone and within the other chamber, the sleeve has at least one opening connecting the interior of the sleeve to this chamber. The valve is small, light, compact and inexpensive. It manages with a weaker valve spring and with a considerably smaller electromagnet. Virtually complete pressure balancing of the valve closure member is achieved.
