An output system for laser beams emerging from a laser cavity (30) comprises an aerodynamic window (56) comprising a beam nozzle (58) and a diffuser (62), located opposite, in order to produce a free beam extending from the nozzle to the diffuser and covering an output opening (64). In order to improve said system so as to enable rational and energy-saving operation of a gas laser, the opening on the cavity outlet side can be covered in a pressure-sealed manner by a material window (68) which after entry into operation of the aerodynamic window (56) can be removed from the output opening (64) in order to clear the latter.
