PURPOSE:To easily and well perform partial erasure, by starting the feeding of a magnetic tape at low speed by issuing a first command, and starting the erasure by supplying an erasing current to an erasing head by issuing a second command when a part to be erased arrives at the erasing head. CONSTITUTION:By turning on a play switch 24 following the turn-ON of an erasing switch 23, an erasure preparation completing signal is inputted from a CPU 21 to a CPU 22, and the CPU 22 turns on a switch 20. A feed command is inputted from the CPU 21 to a driving circuit 12 responding to the turn-ON of the switch 24, and a tape 1 starts to feed at low speed via a capstan motor 11 responding to a clock signal of low frequency being supplied via a switch 34. When the arrival of the erasing head 7 at the part desired to be erased is recognized, the CPU 21 sends a partial erasure signal to the CPU 22 by turning on the switch 23 is a period where the erasure preparation completing signal is generated, and a digital signal is outputted, and when it is inputted to an amplifier 19 via a D/A converter 42, and an LPF 43, the erasing current is permitted to flow on the head 7 by a voltage outputted from the amplifier.
