The gas-fired boiler has a combustion chamber with an upwardly connected flue and is bounded on the bottom by a combustion bed contg. air burners with front venturi tubes. These burners draw primary air depending on the quantity of supplied gas and a vertical movable secondary air valve is provided below. The valve has a displacing mechanism mechanically coupled to a gas regulator having a horizontally extending rod. The rod is coupled to the valve on one side and a turnable shaft on the other, controlled by a lever on the regulator. The lever is rigidly connected to the shaft with a longitudinal guide slot for a ridge on a swing arm on the regulator. When the valve is closed the arm extends perpendicularly onto the lever, and forms an acute angle when open.
