PURPOSE:To obtain a CRC by adding a generation polynomial storage circuit, a feedback control circuit and a feedback signal selection circuit or the like so as to change the generation polynomial without circuit change. CONSTITUTION:A generation polynomial storage circuit 10 receiving a generation polynomial coefficient signal ai and latching the signal in a register by a coefficient trigger signal (t) so as to store a generation polynomical outputs a feedback signal ci. A feedback control circuit 11 receiving the signal ci, a feedback signal fmax from a feedback bit signal selection circuit 13, a serial data (s) and a CRC data signal gi outputs a feedback signal fi-1 to the register circuit 12. The circuit 12 uses a shift pulse (p) to shift the signal and outputs a data gi. Thus, the CRC data is generated even when the polynomial is revised without requiring the CRC generation circuit for each polynomial.
