The present invention relates to nucleotide sequences which are selectively expressed in pre-B cells, to a probe comprising a polynucleotide hybridizing specifically to such a nucleotide sequence and to a method for the production of such a probe. Said probe may be used for determining pre-B cells. The invention further relates to polypeptides translated from a transcript comprising a nucleotide sequence which is selectively expressed in pre-B cells or parts thereof, to antibodies against said polypeptides and to methods for the preparation and the use of said polypeptides and the antibodies raised against them.
