PURPOSE:To prevent deterioration of battery characteristics, as well as enable a battery to be compact and light weight, by providing a liquid passage whose ends are allocated at upper and lower parts of electrolyte around electrodes. CONSTITUTION:Spacers 13, 13' separate a battery jar 1 into plural number of battery jars and liquid passage 14, 14' to circulate an electrolyte upward and downward is provided behind the spacers 13, 13'. Generated hydrogen and chlorine gases move upward from the lower part of the battery jar 1 and the upper part of the electrolyte moves downward through the liquid passage 14, 14'. As a result, the upper part of the electrolyte is prevented to be high temperature and the formation of hydrochloric acid is retarded. In place of mounting the liquid passage, for example, a hollow body of the spacer 13 and a u-shape cross section are allowable to choose. By the arrangement, stabilization of battery characteristics is attained. |
