PURPOSE:To obtain the transparent body of silica glass having high purity at a low temp. with one process by packing tetraalkylammonium silicate powders into a die made from carbonaceous material, silicon carbide, etc. and calcining. CONSTITUTION:The die with desired shape is made from material such as carbonaceous material graphitic material, silicon carbide or silicic material. The powders of tetraalkylammonium silicate are packed into the die, heated, for instance, at 800-1,200 deg.C for 5hr and vitrified. |
