<p>The skin is reeved over the extrusion nozzle for the sausage meat in the normal way and as it is filled it passes between one rotating and one fixed but curved shaping tools forming a channel of the desired shape. The rotary tool has its periphery subdivided into unit lengths for the sausages and following the shaper attachment is a rotating idler wheel, whose circumference is of equal or a whole number multiple length to the sausage links to be made. Fitted to this idler and rotating with it at least during the cutting off operation is any suitable form a parting tool e.g. knife, shears, hot wire etc. This ensures uniform cut ends for the links or pairs etc. Reduced waste and saving of labour in prodn. of uniform sized links.</p> |
