The backrest or squab frame has threaded shafts (2) to locate into the structu5e, with the free ends having the double-ended moulded cones (3). The socket in the seat structure has a press fit sleeve (4) with an internal double-ended cone (14) into which the backrest etc cone is inserted. The sleeve is located under the squab plate (5) via a flange (6), secured to the squab structure by threaded fasteners. The sleeve has a slit (11) to provide the press fit into a respective hole. The sleeve and the double cone are moulded of resilient plastics.
