In prepn. of perhydro-1, 4-thiazepine derivs. of formula (VI) the cpd of formula (III) is condensed with cpds (IV) in the presence of a base to obtain the cpd (V), from which protected radical R6 of carboxylic radical is removed to form the cpd (VI). In the formulae, R1=alkyl, cycloalkylalkyl or aralkyl; R2=protected radical of carboxylic radical; R4 and R5= or, H, alkyl cycloalkyl, aryl or heterocyclic radical; X=halogen, and R6=protected radical of carboxylic radical.
