PURPOSE:To eliminate phenomena such as retransfer and defective transfer without making a separation electrifier large-scaled by disposing a corona control member on the side facing the linear carrier of a discharge member. CONSTITUTION:The separation electrifier 2b is disposed on the downstream side of a transfer electrostatic charger 2a, viewed from the traveling direction of a transfer material, thereby promoting isolation. Plural guide members 4 are disposed on the separation electrifier in the overall longitudinal direction. The titled charger is constituted so that the transfer material isolated from a photosensitive body cannot go into the separation electrifier part 2b. In such the electrifier, the corona control member 3 made by Mylar is disposed between an electrifier discharge wire W2 and the surface of the photosensitive body. By disposing the corona control member 3, the peak of a discharge current is lowered to widen a corona. Thus a large-scaled electrifier is not needed, but a simple constitution can increase a DC component without developing retransfer, thereby enhancing isolation property.
