A protective device for the stern tube seal 1 of propeller driven ships in which an intermediate space is present between the stern tube 6 and the propeller hub 5 is characterised in that a ring 10 of U-shaped cross-section and concentric with the propeller hub is arranged in the intermediate space between the stern tube and the propeller hub within a protective jacket 8, with the U-shaped opening of the ring being radially outwardly directed and being so arranged and dimensioned with respect to the ring gap that any ends of anglers' lines, fishing nets or similar cord-like structures which may eventually enter through the ring gap are picked up by the ring and wound up. <IMAGE> |
