PURPOSE:To simultaneously apply a various kinds of memory managing algorithms, by recording and holding the history of reference/updating status for a real memory unit by using a shift register. CONSTITUTION:A decoder 11 selects a record 8 holding the record of the reference/updating status of the name of the real memory unit supplied as an input. And when the input is the updating of the real memory unit, the updating bit 5 of a selected record 8 is set, and when it is the reference of the real memory unit, the most significant bit of the shift register 6 of the selected record 8 is set. The shift register 6 is right-shifted at every unit time interval (tau), and the most significant bit goes to a cleared state. Also, when the least significant bit is shifted in a state where it is overflowed, an information holding circuit 7 is set, and the fact of the reference is recorded and held even after the lapse of a long time even if one time of reference exists. The unit time interval (tau) depends on the capacity of the memory device consisting of a laminated memory system, data transfer capacity between memory devices, and applied memory managing algorithm.
