The invention relates to a plate for the treatment of damaged vertebrae, the damaged vertebra being bridged over. The invention is based on the object of developing the plate mentioned at the outset in such a manner that it results in a sufficiently rigid, anatomically adaptable implant which stabilises the spinal components satisfactorily in all directions, is not conspicuous under the skin and can be introduced surgically in a straightforward manner. The invention is characterised in that an elastic, elongate implant having a curved cross-section is arranged at least on one side of the vertebra between a lateral process and the spinous process and that fastening of the implant takes place via screws inserted in the damaged vertebra and/or in vertebrae adjoining the latter.
