<p>This invention provides compounds of general formula (I): <IMAGE> in which: X represents a C3-4 alkylene or C3 alkynylene chain, Y represents a C1-3 alkylene chain, R1 and R2 each represent a hydrogen or methyl, and Ar represents a phenyl group optionally substituted by a fluorine atom, a group selected from amino, C1-3 alkyl (e.g. methyl), C1-3 alkoxy (e.g. methoxy), C1-2 hydroxyalkyl (e.g. hydroxymethyl), morpholino, hydroxy or -NHCOR6 where R6 is C1-3 alkyl (e.g. methyl) or Ar is a phenyl group substituted by hydroxyl groups in the 3- and 5- positions, and physiologically acceptable salts and solvates of the same. The compounds according to the invention have a selective stimulating effect on theβ2-adrenoreceptors and are particularly useful in the treatment of diseases associated with reversible obstruction of the airways, such as asthma and chronic bronchitis.</p> |
