PURPOSE:To simplify the characteristic of a corona discharger and perform the diagnosis with a high reliability by starting the corona discharger and a photosensitive body when the self-diagnostic operation is indicated and measuring the surface potential and the charging current of the photosensitive body, and displaying measured results on a display means. CONSTITUTION:A mode switch 9 is operated to set the self-diagnostic mode, and key '5' of ten keys 10 is depressed to indicate the self-diagnostic operation, and next, the number of a corona discharger 2 is set for the purpose of starting the characteristic diagnosing program of the discharger 2. These symbols and number are displayed on a display device 8. When a start key 11 is depressed, a motor 13 is started to rotate a photosensitive body 1 and the discharger 2 is started to electrify the photosensitive body. The surface potential obtained from a surface potentiometer 5 and the measured value of the charging current obtained from a charging current measuring circuit are read into a microprocessor through AD converters 70 and 71 and are displayed on the display device.
