PURPOSE:To improve processing efficiency, by providing a device on which a passbook or the like after completing reading is stacked, and overlapping the reading operation of a magnetic medium with another processing. CONSTITUTION:When the passbook 1 is set at a first passbook inserting entry, a controller 16 judges the setting of the passbook based on the signal of a sensor 12, and carries the passbook 1 to a magnetic head 3 by driving a driving source 14, then performs the reading of a magnetic data. And a read data is stored in a memory 22 in the controller 16, and after the reading operation being completed, the passbook 1 is stacked on a stacker 4 via a carrying path 5. In such a way, plural volumes of passbooks are stacked in the stacker 4, and corresponding data are accumulated in the memory 22 in the controller 16. When the processing for a preceding passbook by a carrying path 6 is completed, the passbook is taken out from the lower part of the stacker 4, and the setting of the passbook is informed to a host device 23. The device 23 instructs the reading of the magnetic data, and the controller 16 reads out the data corresponding to the passbook in the memory 22. |
