<p>PURPOSE:To effectively perform refining of molten using flux by charging the flux at bottom part of a refining vessel, covering the upper part of the flux by molten metal and starting the reaction at the boundary face of both materials. CONSTITUTION:The molten metal pouring part in the refining vessel 1 is surrounded by a weir 5 having the same height as the flux layer 2 (CaCO3). Next, the molten 4 is poured into the vessel 1 and over-flowed from the weir 5, to gently cover the upper face of flux layer 2. Therefore, the flux layer 2 is not easily floated up by receiving pressure from the upper part, but the reaction progresses at the contacting boundary of both materials. The boiling point of Ca in the flux is raised by the static pressure at the lower face of molten metal 4, to restrain evaporation. A part of reaction generated material is separated in the molten metal from the boundary face in gaseous state and fresh flux is always exposed on the boundary face, and the reaction is executed at high efficiency.</p> |
