PURPOSE:To simplify the constitution of a printing processor by selecting an interface used based on a program executed by a control processing section so as to eliminate the need for a switch circuit or the like. CONSTITUTION:After the initial setting required for control operation is applied to a printing processor, a signal is fed to the external interrupt terminal of a control processing section 1, the processing is designated based on the interrupt processing to allow the interruption of the interruption terminal. While the main processing is being executed, a data reception from serial and parallel interface control circuits 3, 4 is awaited. The serial or parallel data is received by a data input/output terminal to execute the interruption processing. Then an instruction from the serial interface 5 or the parallel interface 6 is selected by the interruption from an OR circuit 2 at the processing section 1 and the program receiving the data is selected without using a switch circuit or the like, the constitution of the printing processor is simplified to reduce the cost.
