PURPOSE:To aim at miniaturization in a paper feeder as well as to reduce the cost of production, by installing a lever which makes a pickup roller contact or separate to or from a cut paper surface in response to rotation of a cam. CONSTITUTION:When a solenoid 11 is turned to ON, a lever 7 goes back, separating from a claw 2, and a spring clutch 3 works so that a gear 1 and a hub 4 are rotated as one body. Since the shaft 14 tightly attached to a feed roller 12 is connected to this hub 4, this feed roller rotates. On the other hand, when the solenoid 11 comes on, a lever 9 is also pulled so that a lever 8 is separated from a spring clutch 5, therefore this spring clutch 5 operates and thereby a cam 6 gets rotating, thus a lever 17 goes down and a pickup roller 13 comes into contact with the surface of cut paper 18. And, since one end of the lever 9 is pressed to a projection 10, the lever 8 is released free and restored to the original position.
