PURPOSE:To produce reconditioned sand which is approximately natural sand at a low initial cost by disintegrating the used old sand lumps, separating the lumps to sand particles and foreign matter, and removing magnetically the small magnetic metallic pieces contained in the sand particles and magnetized nonmagnetic small pieces. CONSTITUTION:The raw material which is the old sand charged into a hopper 1 is continuously supplied from a feeder 2 to a reconditioning machine 3, where the old sand lumps are disintegrated and are stripped of impurities, and the disintegrated sand is separated to sand particles and foreign matter. The sand particles are supplied to a belt conveyor 4 by which the particles are fed to a magnetic screening machine 6. The foreign matter is fed into a scrap box 8. The sand particles are supplied to the machine 6 where the magnetic metallic pieces and the nonmagnetic metallic pieces magnetized by impact in the machine 3 are removed. The sand particles contg. no metallic pieces, impurities and foreign matter are recovered as reconditioned sand 10 by a conveyor 7. The removed metallic pieces are recovered as scrap 11. |
