PURPOSE:To provide superior water and abrasion resistances without exerting unfavorable influence on the properties of a photographic sensitive material by hardening photographic gelatin by contact with a phosphorus compound represented by a specified general formula. CONSTITUTION:Photographic gelatin contg. a photographic sensitive silver halide material and applied to a support is hardened by contact with a compound represented by formula I (where R<1> is alkyl, aryl, alkoxy, aryloxy or alkenyl, R<2> is A-O-, alkoxy or aryloxy, A is a quat. salt residue represented by formula II, yet X<-> does not exist when an inner salt is formed, Z is a condensed piperidine ring or the like, R is alkyl, aralkyl or alkylene, B is alkylene or the like, R<3> is identical with R<1>, R<4> is alkoxy or the like, and X<-> is an anion). |
