PURPOSE:To prevent an opposite talking party from giving a sense of interruption by using a control means so as to store a video signal from a camera by means of a signal from a storage switch, to drive/stop a holding tone source circuit by means of a signal from a holding switch and to switch the transmission of a video signal from the camera and the video signal from the picture memory. CONSTITUTION:When a talking party does not want to inform the state of the party due to ordering or the like to the other party, the party operates a holding switch 10 and interrupts a transmitter in a handset 12. Then a holding tone source circuit 9 is driven to send a holding tone to a telephone line to interrupt a video signal from a camera 16. Then a memory control circuit 18 leads picture information stored in advance in a picture memory 17 consecutively to send the holding video image to the communication other party via a sender side optical fiber 22. Thus, the holding picture in response to the request of the user is sent and the holding operation not giving the lense of interruption to the communication opposite party is attained.
