APPARATUS FOR ASSEMBLING DOOR FOR VEHICLE

An apparatus is disclosed for assembling a door for a vehicle of the type wherein a set jig for positioning and setting thereon a door is provided on a side portion of an assembly station. The set jig is movable towards and away, from a door opening portion of a vehicle body set at the assembly station so that the door can be assembled to the door opening portion by an advance movement of the set jig. The apparatus comprises respective driving sources for moving the set jig in the vehicle length direction and in the vehicle height direction from a predetermined original point position thereof corresponding to a normal set position of the door opening portion, and a position detector for detecting any deviation in position of the door opening portion from the normal set position and producing an output signal representative thereof. The driving sources are controlled by the output signal to compensate for the original point position of the set jig before the advance movement of the set jig in accordance with the deviation in position of the door opening portion.
