PURPOSE:To improve the yield of valuable metal such as Si, Cr, etc., to reduce a charge of a slagging agent, and also to improve electric power consumption rate, by blowing an O2 source and an Al source while regulating Al2O3 content in slag to a specific value or above and also maintaining the ratio of Al to O2 at a specific value at the time of refining Cr-containing steel. CONSTITUTION:At the time of refining Cr-containing steel, the O2 and Al sources are blown in a state where Al2O3 content in the slag is regulated to >=15wt% and also Al/O2>=1.0 is maintained. It is preferable that Al2O3 content in the above slag is regulated to <=40wt%. The above O2 source is not necessarily retracted to pure oxygen, and, e.g., oxides, oxygen-enriched gases, etc., can also be used. As the Al source, though pure Al can of course be used, it is preferable to use Al ash in respect of costs.
