PURPOSE:To efficiently and inexpensively obtain fine-grained solidified matter having good quality at a low cost by forming brittle parts on a molding by slender grooves or projecting hurdles provided on the surface of double rolls. CONSTITUTION:The roll 1 is provided with the slender grooves 18 or projecting hurdles 19 intersecting transversely with vertical grooves 17. Such grooves or projecting hurdles locally form the brittle parts at the equal intervals conformed to a specified grain size on the band-shaped molding which is continuously solidified and emitted by a pressure. The height H of the projecting hurdles 19 is determined adequate between the sizes from the roll surface up to the bottom of the vertical grooves according to the properties of the raw material to be molded. The grain shape of the solidified matter is determined by the shapes of the vertical grooves of the press rolls 1 and 2 and the shape in the longitudinal direction thereof is determined by the pitch on the circumference of the grooves 18 or hurdles 19 provided in the transverse direction of the grooves 17.
