PURPOSE:To reduce play in coupling by forming on a tapered surface a cut-out groove formed circumferentially of a synchrocone in which an engaging claw of an outside ring is inserted. CONSTITUTION:Left and right synchrocones 8 are formed circumferential with a plurality of cut-out grooves 25 which are formed on tapered surfaces 17, 22 inclined in the rotational direction. A gap 20 is formed between the synchrocone 8 and a clutch valve 2 and another gap is formed between an outside ring 6 and a clutch hub 2. When relative rotation between the outside ring 6 and the synchrocone 8 takes place in the direction of arrow before the beginning of shift, a corner 38 or tapered surface 37 on a light introducing end 23 of an engaging claw 24 in the outside ring 6 bears against the tapered surface 17 of synchrocone 8 to eliminate the gap between the clutch hub 2 and the outside ring 6.
