PURPOSE:To prevent the rising in the internal temp. of a printer and to reduce the noise of the printer even in an idle state, by driving a cooling fan at a speed N2 slower than a speed N1 in the idle state. CONSTITUTION:When a printing order or a paper feed order is continuously inputted from an external apparatus, a cooling fan 39 continuously receives the supply of power by a cooling fan driving apparatus 37 and continuously rotates at a speed N1. When input data is not obtained from the external apparatus or only printing data is inputted, since power supply for a T1-time and the stoppage of power supply for a T2-time are repeated with respect to the cooling fan 39 by the cooling fan driving apparatus 37, the quantity of power supplied is reduced and the cooling fan 39 is rotated at a speed N2 slower than the speed N1 to cool a printer and the noise of the cooling fan 39 in an idle state is reduced. further, the T1-time and the T2-time are set between several ten msec and several hundred msec. |
