PURPOSE:To obtain excellent color forming sensitivity without lowering various characteristics such as storage stability and the like, by compounding a specific sensitizer in a thermal color forming layer. CONSTITUTION:P-nitrobenzaldehyde or methyl nitrobenzoate is contained in a thermal color forming layer. As colorless or light-colored leuco dye, acidic substance and binder contained in the thermal color forming layer, ones conventionally known are used. The compounding amount of p-nitrobenzaldehyde or methyl p-nitrohenzoate constituting the thermal color forming layer is pref. 10-400% by wt. of the leuco dye. Further, calcium carbonate, kaolin or the like can be added to the thermal color forming layer in addition for the purpose of enhancing the whiteness and writing property of a recording layer and preventing sticking, and a thermal recording material having excellent color forming sensitivity can be obtained without damaging practical characteristics such as water resistance, oil resistance, plasticizer resistance and heat resistance. |
