PURPOSE:To perform control of an electron beam quantity by a light for removing an influence on the other electrode of an electric signal for the control. CONSTITUTION:An electron tube 1 has a light-electron conversion means 3 in place of a negative electrode in a vacuum outer wall 2 made of glass. The light-electron conversion means 3 consists of a photo-electric surface 4 generating electrons in response to light, that is a photo-negative electrode and an electron multiplification part 5. Since this light-electron conversion means has the photo-negative electrode 4 in place of a thermal negative electrode of a general CRT for controlling the photo-negative electrode 4, it is possible to control an electron beam 6 by light without resorting to electric control by a grid. Thereby, a bad influence on the other electrode of a signal for controlling the electron beam 6 to be projected on a screen can be prevented.
