The rotation speed of a drum in the direction for debarking easily processed material is high in relation to that in the other direction where the timber is handled which is difficult to debark. Log lifters (10) are inclined w.r.t. the axis of rotation so that the raw material forward movement is either encouraged or braked. In the first direction of drum rotation, the logs having a lesser lifting height than in the second direction. The lifters have a non-symmetrical cross-section, with two lifting sides with differk differing raising effect. In the second rotatory direction, the timber which is difficult to debark is subjected to mechanical effect to form slits in the bark. The second of the lifting sides with high lift effect has appropriate tools for achieving this. |
