PURPOSE:To easily perform sharp printing having high resolving power by low energy even to recording paper having sharp unevenness and inferior to smoothness, by applying an ultrasonic wave at the time of thermal transfer printing. CONSTITUTION:Recording paper 3 is arranged so as to contact with an ink layer 1 and a thermal head 4 is contacted with the back surface of the ink sheet 2 under pressure. A platen 5 being a backup press member is arranged to the back surface of the recording paper 3 in opposed relation to the thermal head 4. Ultrasonic oscillators 6, 7 composed of piezoelectric ceramics are respectively adhered to the back surfaces of both of the thermal head 4 and the platen 5. At the time of printing, the heat of the thermal head 4 is applied to the ink sheet 2 and the ink of the sublimable ink layer 1 is moved to the recording paper 3 to be transferred thereto. At this time, ultrasonic waves are applied to the thermal head 4 and the platen 5 from the ultrasonic oscillators 6, 7 and the ink 8 is strongly printed on the recording paper 3. |
