PURPOSE:To display the property information of an optional building while displaying a map on a prescribed area by assigning indexes to respective buildings in a polygonal closed graphic. CONSTITUTION:Graphic data are formed so that buildings in the map information stored in an auxiliary storage part 11 of a host computer 1 are displayed by polygonal closed graphics, an index number for specifying each building is assigned to each building and the same number is also assigned to the property information (address, telephone number) of each building. A housing land map in a certain area is displayed on a CRT monitor 7 of a graphic CRT display device 2, and when an operator specifies a certain building in the screen and commands the display of its property information, a retrieving part 12 retrieves the property information having the same number as the number in the graphic data assigned to the building and sends the information to the display part 2. In the display part 2, a display window is set up on the corner part of the screen by a multiview port function part 51 and the property information is displayed in the window.
