PURPOSE:To obtain an olefin polymerization catalyst which affords a polymer having a high stereoregularity, by incorporating a specified solid catalyst, a di- or tetra-substituted piperidine derivative and an organic aluminum compound. CONSTITUTION:The title catalyst comprises a solid catalyst (I) obtained by first preparing a homogeneous solution consisting of magnesium chloride (a), a calcium oxide (b), tetraalkoxytitanium (c) in an amount of 2 or more pts.wt. per pt.wt. (a) plus (b), an aliphatic hydrocarbon (d) which is liquid at -30-50 deg.C and an aliphatic alcohol (e) which is liquid at -30-50 deg.C, adding the resulting solution dripwise to titanium tetrachloride (f) which is maintained at 0 deg.C or lower, adding a diester of phthalic acid (g) to the resulting solution which is heated to 80 deg.C or higher under stiring, reacting the mixture at 100 deg.C or higher to give a solid product, which is separated and reacted further with titanium tetrachloride; a di- or tetra-substituted piperidine derivative of formula II; and an organic aluminum compound (III).
