PURPOSE:To transmit/receive an external independent signal with using a multiplexed single line by adopting the constitution such that a data signal is inserted/separated optionally externally to a stuff bit in the stuff synchronization PCM multiplex system. CONSTITUTION:A low/order group signal stored in a transmission side memory circuit 1 is read from a stuff control circuit 5 by a control signal and fed to a multiplexer circuit 3, becomes a multiplexed high-order group signal and is sent to the next stage. Further, the data signal received from a pulse input terminal 9 externally is inserted to the stuff bit and multiplexed by the multiplexer circuit 3 by the control from the stuff control circuit 5 by a pulse insertion circuit 7. At the reception side, the separation circuit 4 separates the high-order group signal into the low-order group signal, the reception memory circuit 2 stores the separated low-order group signal, the destuff operation is applied according to the control signal from the destuff control circuit 6 and the same signal as the low-order group signal inputted to the transmission side memory circuit 1 is outputted.
