PURPOSE:To contrive prevention of a motor or the like from being burned, by causing a controlling part for driving parts for a carriage, paper feed and a printing head to monitor other driving parts so as to detect generation of an abnormal condition, and to stop energization of the driving part in which the abnormal condition is present. CONSTITUTION:When a master CPU 3 outputs a printing command to a slave CPU 6 on the basis of input data from a host computer 1, the CPU 6 outputs operation control signals to driving parts 7-9 for carriage feed, paper feed and printing, based on the command. The slave CPU 6 controls the driving parts 7-9, based on signals from various sensors 10 and switches on a console panel 11. When an abnormal condition in a driving current for each of motors 12-14 for a carriage, paper feed and a printing head is detected by an abnormality detecting part 15, an abnormality detection signal is outputted to the master CPU 3. Upon receiving the abnormality detection signal from the slave CPU 6 or the abnormality detecting part 15, the master CPU 3 outputs a stop signal to each of the driving parts 7-9, thereby cutting off the driving current. |
