PURPOSE:To provide the title compsn. having excellent moldability, oil resistance and well-balanced mechanical strength, consisting of a polyphenylene ether resin, a (modified) polyester resin and a styrene copolymer having a specified functional group. CONSTITUTION:100pts.wt. polyester resin is reacted with 0.005-10pts.wt. benzoic acid derivative (salt) of the formula (wherein M is H or an alkali metal; X is a polar group; n is 1-3 at 270-350 deg.C to obtain a modified polyester resin (C). A polyphenylene ether resin (A) is blended with a polyester resin (B) having an intrinsic viscosity of 0.30-1.50 (in a solvent mixture of phenol and tetrachloroethane (1:1 by weight) at 30 deg.C) the component C in such an amount as to give a weight ratio of C to B of 0.01-0.8, and a styrene copolymer (D) having a number-average MW of not lower than 2,000, a styrene content of not lower than 25% (by weight, the same applies hereinbelow and at least one functional group selected from the group consisting of epoxy, carboxyl and, carboxylic acid ester groups in such a proportion that A/(A+B) is 15-80%, A/(A+B+C) is 10-70% and D/(A+B+C+D) is 0.05-50%.
