PURPOSE:To reduce the cost of construction as well as shorten the period of construction by a method in which a breakwater is made up of a lower ground- contact plate and a waves breaking plate integrally connected to the ground- contact plate and fixed by effectively utilizing the cohesive force of the soft ground. CONSTITUTION:A soft ground-landing type reinforced concrete breakwater 15 is made up of a lower ground-contact plate 16 and a waves breaking plate 17 erected on the plate 16. The breakwaters 15 are connectedly set on soft ground 18, which has small load per unit area and is hard to settle down because the ground-contact area of the plate 16 is wide and whole weight is small and also can offer resistance against the falling force of waves because the wide bottom of the plate 16 is contacted with soft ground 18 in a bonded state. Less settlement and inclination of the breakwater 15 occur even when it is set on soft ground, and no movement and inclination against waves take place. Also, the construction and removal of the breakwater are easier.
