PURPOSE:To enable enlarged characters, special characters or the like to be printed together with standard characters in the same line, by pressing against a platen a pressure roller which incorporates a one-way clutch not rotated at the time of forward paper-feeding but rotated only at the time of backward paper-feeding. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of pressure rollers 6, each of which incorporates a one-way clutch capable of being rotated at the time of rotation in a direction B and is provided with an elastic material such as a rubber on the surface thereof, are fitted to a shaft 13 at predetermined intervals, on a skewly lower side of a hammer bank 11. At the time of feeding a paper 9 in a direction A, the one-way clutches 7 are not rotated, so that the pressure rollers 6 are pressed in a direction C by springs 8 to make contact with a platen 5 in a deflected state, whereby a required paper tension is provided. Therefore, normal forward paper feeding is performed. At the time of printing twice in the same line or in other similar situation, the one-way clutches 9 can be rotated in the direction B, so that the paper 9 can be smoothly fed in a direction B by the platen 5 and the pressure rollers 6.
