PURPOSE:To ensure the high reliability with a reduced cost, by supplying a pressure air pressurized by a supercharging cylinder to a combustion cylinder. CONSTITUTION:During engine operation under low load, second throttle valves 13 are closed. Accordingly, combustion cylinders 2B-2E are supplied with fuel mixture of intake air fed from a third intake passage 43 through natural intake passages 51-54 and fuel injected from injectors 11. Supercharging cylinders 2A and 2F are supplied with air fed through first and second intake passages 41 and 42 to pressurize the air. Then, the air is supplied to a surge tank 16, and is discharged from a relief valve 15 to the atmosphere. During engine operation under high load, the throttle valves 12 and 13 are opened. Accordingly, the combustion cylinders 2B-2E are supplied with fuel mixture of natural intake air induced from first intake ports 4, supercharged air induced from second intake ports 5 and fuel injected from the injectors 11.
