PURPOSE:To obtain the title copolymer having impact and hydrolysis resistance, by introducing a specified siloxane segment to a polyester polymer through a covalent bond. CONSTITUTION:The title copolyester which is a block copolymer comprising 1-99wt% siloxane segments (A) of formula I (wherein m is 1-2,000) and 99-1wt% polyester segments (B) of formula II or III (wherein R1 is a 6-12C divalent aromatic radical or a 4-20C divalent aliphatic radical, R2 is a 6-20C divalent aromatic radical or a 2-20C divalent aliphatic radical and m is 1-1,000), wherein the degree of polymerization of segment A is 1-2,000 and that of segment B is 1-1,000. As a starting compound for forming said segments, terminal-reactive silicone oil of formula IV or V [wherein X and Y are each -NH2, -ROH, a group of formula VI or the like (wherein R is a 1-10C hydrocarbon group0} is suitable. This copolymer can be rendered impact- resistant and hydrolysis-resistant without losing the features of a segment A-free base polymer and is highly practicable for use in high-temperature and high- humidity environments encountered in the field of automobile parts and the field of electric and electronic components.
